Successful delivery of this project resulted in MCM being awarded remediation and repair work for the Station’s cold water inlet channel.

Newport Power Station is a gas-fired power plant which has operated since 1981. MCM were engaged to undertake repairs to the Station’s Blowdown Chamber.

Client Brief

To deliver a remediation approach that would repair existing deterioration and provide long term protection to selected reinforced concrete elements of the Blowdown Chamber retaining wall..

What We Delivered:

• Demolition of old brick wall

• Hydrodemolition of delaminated concrete wall

• Steel preparation and augmentation

• Concrete reinstatement via dry-spray gunite

• Installation of hybrid anode cathodic protection
