Hawthorne Canal Bridge
Built in 1965, the Hawthorne Canal Bridge spans Hawthorne Canal between Lilyfield and Haberfield, New South Wales. Prior to the construction of the City West Link in 2000, it was the only way for vehicles to access the city of Sydney. It has since been repurposed as a pedestrian bridge.
Client Brief
To repair and protect the bridge’s substructure ensuring no environmental impact to the waterway and minimal disruption to the local community.
What We Delivered:
Access installation including temporary access decks suspended from the concrete beams on the underside of the bridge
Concrete repairs
Hybrid anode installation and commissioning
Water cathodic protection installation and commissioning
Application of a protective coating system
Additional controls to capture wastewater and rubble generated during concrete breakouts to ensure no adverse impact to seabed
