Project overview
MCM will be restoring the steel girders along the northern abutment of Bridge 8/9 on Hickson Rd. As part of the restoration works, the existing lead-based paint coatings will be removed and a modern system applied, ensuring longevity of this heritage asset.
These works will require the temporary installation of a B Class hoarding and scaffold which will then be encased in Shrink Wrap to create a negative pressure environment that will contain the existing lead products during removal. To mitigate any hazards during the removal works, the bridge overpass shall be closed from public access from 09/05/23 and reopened from 12/05/23. All pedestrian access will be via the alternate route (see map below).
MCM will work to minimise community impacts during this time, however there will be minor machinery noise during the works.
